The Brainerd Foundation

The Brainerd Foundation was an independent non-profit private foundation based in Seattle, Washington. Established in 1995, the foundation's mission was to protect the environment of the northwest and to build broad citizen support for conservation. The foundation provided grants to strengthen the ability of nonprofits, communities, and decision-makers to protect the region's air, land, and water. In addition to funding, the foundation also provided expertise to its nonprofit partners and collaborated with other foundations to find new methods of advocacy, policy implementation, and capacity building. The assets of the foundation were managed by the board of directors. The Brainerd Foundation closed its doors at the end of 2020.
