Kimsey Foundation

Kimsey Foundation is an independent non-profit foundation based in Washington, District Of Columbia. The foundation was established in 1997 by James Kimsey, co-founder and first chairman of America Online (AOL). It provides grants primarily for community development, education and international cooperation to reduce human suffering. The foundation focuses on educational and cultural initiatives; supporting thriving communities that offer hope and opportunity to youth. It participates in funding partnerships and also serves the international community through policy research and humanitarian outreach. The foundation has narrowed its focus to include a few specific projects that leverage systemic change in public education and community development. The assets of the foundation are managed by the board of directors.
