Burroughs Wellcome Fund

Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF) is an independent non-profit private foundation based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Established in 1955, it is dedicated to advancing the biomedical sciences by supporting research and other scientific and educational activities. It makes grants primarily to degree-granting institutions on behalf of individual researchers, who must be nominated by their institutions. It was founded as the corporate foundation of the pharmaceutical firm Burroughs Wellcome Co. The assets of the foundation are managed by the executive management team.
