The Bear Stearns Companies (Bear Stearns) was a corporation based in New York, New York. Established in 1923, the company operated as an investment banking, securities, and derivatives trading, and clearance and brokerage company. The assets of the company were managed by the executive management team. The firm was acquired by JP Morgan in 2008.
