Established in 1971, the plan covers all United States regular full-time, part-time, and retired employees of 3M Company, an American multinational conglomerate corporation. The plan contains two trusts namely 3M Employees Welfare Benefits Association Trust I (Trust I) and 3M Employees Welfare Benefits Association Trust III. Trust I has separate sub-trusts for union and union-free participants. The assets of the pension fund are managed by the executive management team.
