Indiana State Teachers' Retirement System

Indiana State Teachers' Retirement System (ISTRS) is a multiple-employer defined-benefit public pension fund based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Established in 1921, the Indiana General Assembly created the pension plan as a pay-as-you-go defined benefit retirement system to provide pension, death, and disability benefits to its members and their beneficiaries. The assets of the fund are managed by the board of trustees.
